The American Heritage Girls host the community book fair event fundraiser to raise money to provide a free book fair to children and their parents and individuals who are homeless.
The Fundraiser Book Fair is Freely open to the community. 100% of the profit from the book fair fundraiser provides a free book fair to the homeless children. The fundraiser is volunteer run and we thank God for the wonderful publishers who provide discount and sometimes free shipping to help make this fundraiser possible.
Fundraiser Provides Free Books & Other Literary Items to Homeless Children, Parents & Others.
Homeless Children at Samaritan Inn keep their 3 favorite books, 3 non-book literary items, and draw string book bag! Parents get 1 free book of their choice as well. Other homeless individuals receive 1 book as supplies allow.
Why Do We Fundraise for Homeless Children & Parents?
This on-site event at the homeless shelter is in the summer when children have limited or no access to age-appropriate reading materials. The event mission is to get kids excited about reading, provide access to age-appropriate reading materials with uplifting stories & values, and empowering children. Children in public schools are paraded around the book fairs each year and encouraged to create a wish list of 3 books. However, their parents cannot afford the books, and the kids endure further disappointment due to their disadvantaged economic family crisis. We change that for them. The kids get to create their book Wishlist and at the end of the book fair they have their 3 books in hand, plus 3 other literary items and a book bag!
Parents get 1 free book of their choice as well. If we have additional adult books left over, then the homeless adults without children get 1 free book of their choice. We provide a large variety of current new inspiring books and genres to ensure we are able to meet the needs of all participants. Most of our adults’ books are related to parenting, relationships, self-help, devotionals, or other inspiring books with an encouraging message.
